Hello! I am blogging again!
This time I will be blogging on Current Affairs in the newspapers. This particular issue on the Jack Neo saga has been hitting the headlines for the past few days. Let's discuss!
This incident happened in Singapore. Jack Neo, a prominent married film director, fell out with his mistress who is a mere 22-year old girl. The enraged girl then approached the press with the juicy details and at the same time, confronted Jack and his wife.
This girl is just one of the many "Jack Girls". It is rumoured that he has a string of at least 11. Most of them are less than half his age, almost as young as his daughter. Like what they quote in the Chinese papers, he is like an old cow eating young grass.
Eventually, a press conference showing the crying Jack and his wife did not help clear the air. In fact, it did more harm than good as most felt that the conference was orchestrated and Jack did not speak from the bottom of his heart. Finally after almost 5 days of hogging the headlines, he apologised due to intolerable pressure from the media, fans and everybody else.
I would like to point out that Jack rightfully said it, : " You reap what you sow". Although he may have seemed like the moral educator in many of his films, he did not live up to his expectations. He preaches one thing and means another. To me, this is a real act of hypocrisy and it cannot be tolerated. This is the main reason why this incident became a big issue. Like what are said in the forums, infidelity may be private, but not hyopcrisy.
This incident has affected not only himself, but the people around him, like his wife, children, the girls involved, the entire film company and his endorsements, like the air conditioning one. They took his face off! It will also give us a new perspective of him, and he may not receive the great support he used to get from the public ever again if he does another movie. This is really a lesson for him and everybody else.
We should act responsibly, whether we are famous or not. Don't forget, you reap what you sow.
